Uteron Pharma Operations, based in Liege (Belgium) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Uteron Pharma, a research company dedicated to the development of innovative, controlled release devices that serve as a delivery platform for known active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Together with its founding stakeholders (the University of Liege, the Walloon Region, and Mithra pharmaceuticals) Uteron has developed a hormonal intra-uterine device (IUD). Extensive clinical trials to prove contraception are currently being conducted in cooperation with its US based development partner Medicines360.

It is the intention of Uteron to market its IUDs worldwide through a network of distributors as soon as its products have been approved by the appropriate health authorities. Market entry for its IUD is planned for 2011, with the key markets being targeted for early 2014. The production of the hormonal IUD is entrusted to Odyssea Pharma.
